From Data to Dreams: Data Sovereignty and Equity as Economic Levers

Wednesday 29th October

12-1pm

This session explores how Pacific communities are reclaiming data as a tool for equity, innovation, and self-determination. Framed through a MERL lens, it shows how Pacific-led data governance reshapes what we monitor, how we evaluate success, and how we learn from lived realities. From health and disability to climate resilience, the examples shared highlight data sovereignty as a strategic lever for Pacific economies. By shifting control from external systems to Indigenous stewardship, this presentation invites participants to reimagine reporting, equity, and transformation—from systems of extraction to systems of dreaming and design.
